It's a theme that's made to make Linux look really good. It's the first attempt by anyone really Linux to try and make Linux, pretty accept Elementary OS and Peal (which are both Mac OS X like)
This could be another Gnome clone, or they could design their own Shell altogether. That could be exciting because up to this point most Linux distros are argley at defoult, I mean look at the latest UBUNTU 14.10
Lumix OS would be spectacular considering their planning on doing things their own think just as KDE is doing its own thing, no one is trying to copy someone else. It also looks like is easier to find your applications by just their icons, wow.
Lunix makes UBUNTU look awesome and help you work faster because is makes it easier to find and identify you icons quicky.
There has been some talks that they're planning their own Linux Distro.
Here is what I can Predict about the upcomming Numix OS if its ever released
1. it will be based on Gnome
2. will be most beautiful distribution ever
3. paid applications that are better than current free applications, though they still be open source.
